He was active from 1727 to 1742. He was known as a worker of small objects, particularly in the creation of miniature silver. The mortar is hallmarked with the city mark of Amsterdam, master's mark VS and year letter 'z' for 1734. The pestle is hallmarked with the 19th century sword mark, indicating it was added later.
